This forum is an active, vibrant and varied community. Anyone with an interest in the kilt will be welcome. You don't have to be Scottish, you don't even have to own a kilt yet.

A caution to new registration

We are currently experiencing a huge increase in attempts by spammers to register to X Marks. We may have ended up on some spammer list or it just may be the spammers probing the entire web looking for weak sites.

X Marks actively screens every new registration in an effort to keep this forum free from the spam and ads from spammers.

As the favorite tool for spammers are VPN services and TOR we are currently taking extra caution from any new registration using one of these services.

If you register to X Marks and are using a VPN or TOR please understand that the use of these services may result in your acceptance being delayed or rejected outright as these services may have also been used by a spammer and may show up on the published lists of spammers.

The “For Sale” section of the forum is intended for private sales of items owned by our members. It is not for businesses to advertise their products or link to products offered by businesses.

1. A member may not post an item for sale until they have made 10 posts to the rest of the forum.

2. Any item posted for sale must be, in some way, related to the topic of the forum, kilts. A Scottish connection is insufficient. If in doubt please contact the Moderators.

3. Items my be offered for sale for a maximum of 60 days.

4. If the price of an item is changed the seller should edit their original post.

5. Sellers may 'bump' the post to remind others of the item only three times. Once after 15 days. once after 30 days, and finally once after 45 days. Creating a new post to change the price will be considered a bump.

6. After 60 days posts will be deleted.

7. No one may offer an item for sale here, that is also listed anywhere else. If an item is also listed on Ebay, Craigslist or any other commercial site it will be deleted here, leaving a one line explanation such as "Now listed on EBay".

8. As a courtesy to other members, an item that is sold, pending sale awaiting payment, or removed, the seller is responsible for amending their original post or bringing this to the attention of the Moderators by PM.

9. As a courtesy to others, member comments should be relevant to the sale. Posts like "Wow, I like this" or "Sorry, too small/big for me" will be deleted.

10. If a member is genuinely interested in an item posted for sale they should contact the seller using the Personal Message (PM) function of the forum.
We are sorry. You have not made the required 10 posts to the forum to qualify to offer an item for sale.

Sgian dubh for sale.. maker Robert Alison, silver hallmarked.

I have a lovely sgian dubh for sale, in original condition.

I asked about on this forum for some info on the sgian dubh, thanks to everyone that answered my questions.

here's what I gathered....

maker: Robert Alison ( silver stamped RA )
hallmarks: lion rampant, three turret castle, date letter is worn its unreadable, initials RA.

I believe the date is somewhere between 1975 & 1982

blade length 3.5 inches
overall length 7.5 inches
handle I believe is resin

the blade is in good condition with perfect point
overall condition is great.
