So I married an axe murderer
Was watching this again for the umpteenth time this weekend, and I had forgotten all about the Scottish connection!!!
Myer's character is a MacKenzie, and he wears a kilt for his weddin ceremony. I couldn't quite tell if it was a MacKenzie tartan, though...
One of my favorite bits is the piper in the light blue doublet with the leopard skin pipe bag....

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but it seems Mike Myers' charactors in his movies influenced how the media sees the Scots and use that image to sell their products....
Now I have the sudden urge to buy some Kieth's IPA to wash down my Kelloggs minis.

A funny and very tounge in cheek look at Scots, I love the 'Scottish Wall of Fame' as well as the part during the wedding reception when the piper passes out. I am laughing out loud just thinking about the scene, "We've got a piper down, a piper is down".
For those of you who have not seen it, it is a funny movie ... as long as you don't take it too serioulsy.

To take most commedy seriously is a downfall. If you can't laugh at yourself, you shouldn't be allowed to laugh at anyone.
The line "I think that most Scottish food is based on a dare." scared me away from Haggis for years. Much to my disappointment when I tried it.
Very funny movie though.

For some odd reason, people were quoting this movie constantly at our wedding -- can't figure out why for the life of me!
Now I have the Bay City Rollers going through my mind...
Of course, Myers's "If it's nae Scottish it's Crap!" , "Phil MacCracken, Scottish Therapist" (starring Patrick Stewart) and "Scottish soccer hooligans" are classics as well.
Cheers,
Todd

I watched the movie last night, but missed the first 20 minutes or so. It was pretty funny, but I figured out who the murderer really was about half way through.
The kilts at the wedding looked great, we those actual MacKenzie tartans or just close? Comparing them to the MacKenzie tartans in some of the tartan finders later, they didn't look like a perfect match.
BTW, did you notice that nearly everyone wearing a Balmoral was wearing it with a Jacobite White cockade?

Funny you should mention that, because of all the times I have seen this movie, this is the first time I even noticed the cockade behind the clan badge...
