If you're in the mood for good old-fashioned research, try the following book:

The Clans of the Scottish Highlands, R. R. McIan and James Logan.

There are quite a few of Irish descent on the forum. My fathers family is from county Tyrone in Northern Ireland. They came to the USA in the mid 1920s, so I am only one generation removed. My mother's family are Gordons so I guess I'd be considered "Scot Irish". Anyhow, welcome to the board. You and your friend will fit in quite well here.

Thanks for the support,to be honest I didn't think any of you would have a problem, but she was quite worried I might loose a limb or two (come back here,i'll bite your knee caps off! ). So I thought I might want to play it safe, glad to know I was right! Again, thanks for the support, and the advice.
