    "Jonesing" longer than needed.

    Greetings all,

Received my first tank today and I love it. Now, don't get me wrong the SWK I had was good for the money but the superior quality of this 16oz. handmade kilt (Highland Granite tartan) is astounding. I purchased it thru our own Matthew Newsome of the Scottish Tartans Museum in NC. I believe Barb had posted some pics of a Highland Granite tartan kilt she had made up recently but I'll try to get some pics of my own up when I can. It really is a thing of beauty.

But what has this do do with the title of the thread you ask. Well gather round and listen to my tale. I had ordered the Kilt back in August and the "jonesing" began right away. I managed to occupy my time by perusing kilt sites for more kilts and accessories and generally pondering what tartan kilt I will next purchase (leaning toward the weathered MacDonald). As October approched the "jonesing" intensified as I knew my tank would be complete soon. Earlier today I emailed Matt just to confirm my shipping address and ask if he could notify me when it was shipped. I soon recieved a reply indicating that the kilt had shipped Oct. 4 and according to FedEx it had been delivered Oct. 7. Now, I've had problems with FedEx before so my blood immediately began boiling . My lovely wife being the cooler of the two of us thought to call the office of my apartment complex and see if I had a package there. Sure enough I did. I ran down there to discover that FedEx had indeed delivered my kilt Oct. 7 and it had been sitting in the office since. Nice of the folks (read idiots) in the office to let me know I had a package wasn't it. Crisis averted, I ran home to try my kilt on. It looks great, it fits great, I love it, and the wife likes it a lot to ;)

All is well. Now then.... time to start saving for the next one.

I hate to have to admit it, Bryan, but I am now a very jealous man! I just love the look of the Highland Granite tartan and it IS on my wish list, but there are others above it!! ;)

Cannot wait to see you photo(s).

A five day extra Jones seems OK, but for a Granite NO WAY! Glad that it all worked out for you Bryan.

Ordered in August and received in October. That's really a great time frame for a hand-sewn, authentic, custom-made, heavy kilt ain't it?! Sorry that you had to endure that extra week of wait... but that's STILL pretty fast for such a wonderful product.

Now you get to see why I call the real ones "tanks".

    Bryan,

I'm super-glad your kilt made it to you ok. Your email had me worried, because I had expected that you'd get delivery of that kilt last week.

I had a customer recently have a package missing for almost a month -- it had been delivered to a neighbor's apartment instead of his by mistake and left outside the door.

The neighbor apparantly saw the wrong name on it, figured it wasn't his, and left it sitting on his porch the whole time. Meanwhile, my customer was trying to get some idea of where his package was from FedEx, who said they had already delivered it. Eventually he contacted us about it. I was getting ready to ship out another package to him (it wasn't a kilt, it was an off-the-shelf item), when I got another email saying that he found the original package. He got curious about the mysterious package that had been outside his neighbors' door for a few weeks. So he went to check it out, and sure enough it was his.

I can't beleive that the neighbor didn't even move the box, or knock on his door, or something. Can you imagine walking around a package for a month, just because it didn't have your name on it ("not my problem"). Some people!

In any case, the lesson here is whenever you ship something like a kilt make sure it is insured! (Which yours was, by the way). I'm releived to hear it was in the office and now in the proper hands. I hope you get much enjoyment out of it!

    Aye,
    Matt

BTW, Bryan, go back through your inbox from around the 4th and see if you didn't get an email from FedEx. You should have gotten an automated email alert telling you the package was on its way and giving you a tracking number, etc. We do that for all our customers who provide us with an email address.

Another thing I've found is to have it shipped to your place of work. The shipping may be cheaper for the vendor and tracking is easier. This avoids leaving it on the doorstep.

Goodness! I would have panicked myself. It's a good thing we have level-headed spouses.

Leaving a package on a porch for a month is weird. I'm glad that one worked out well.
