    Lightning Bolt Kilt Pin

Not wishing to hi-jack the thread about the Scottish Village at New York Central Station, so I'll post a photo here of the Lightning Bolt Kilt Pin which UnAmOnion referred to in that thread. The Lightning Bolt Kilt Pin by 21st Century Kilts was handed out to each of us who took part in the Edinburgh Kilt Walk yesterday. Though I believe there is also a solid silver version which is much more expensive. Haven't got round to fitting it to a kilt yet - it will probably go on my new Dark Island 5 yard 13 oz from Scotweb.

    Lucky you!

Well, lucky you, Cessna, because according to their website, you have to buy a kilt from 21st Century Kilts in order to get their lightning kilt pin.

I rather fancied one when I first saw it on their website. It's very distinctive & attention getting, which is obviously why they're keeping it so exclusive.

The TFCK lightening bolt kilt pin is the Trade Mark of TFCK and, yes, you do get one free with every TFCK kilt (you'll see one on every TFCK kilt, all thirteen of 'em, in my Photo Album!). Those, however, are what they call the 'basic' pin and have a matt, pewter finish. They do have for sale a highly polished, shiny silver-plated version, the price of which is £25. I wear mine on my real leather 6yd TFCK kilt, where it stands out superby well against the black leather. I've also seen a gorgeous solid silver version priced at over £100 ............ but, I don't have one of those, yet!!

I was surprised to hear that the basic TFCK pin was being given out at the Kilt Walk in Edinburgh because, when it was first made available, its main purpose was to say to the world, "Look, I'm attached to a '21st Century Kilts' kilt". Howie would have been most displeased to have seen it being worn on a kilt from another kiltmaker. A change of policy perhaps, or maybe a one-off marketing/promotional tool - I'll check it out with Howie later.
