Kilt Comments and Questions
I forgot to mention that last Sunday we went to a going away party for a pastor from another church that we know. While walking in, I had on my black Survival, a lady was going in at the same time and came out of the vehicle next to ours. She asked what event or festival was going on, and she mentioned my kilt. I told her there wasn't one. She then asked why today I was wearing a kilt. I said, "Because it is Sunday." She then stated, "No, why are you wearing a kilt today?"
I started to tell her that any day is a good day to wear a kilt, when my wife said, "He wears one quite often." The other lady didn't say any more when I told her, "They are comfortable, too!" Another older gentleman who saw me inside the church, said, "Nice kilt!"
Today when I was at my nephew's graduation, where Nick also graduated, we were walking around looking for Nick when a taller guy was taking pictures of "their" graduate and he spotted me. He interrupted the picture he was about to take and motioned to me. I stopped, stood there with sort of a pose, and he took my picture. Hmmm, I wonder what he will be saying about it?
Then this evening we went to a mystery dinner theater, and one person there asked if I was one of the actors. I just said, "Nope!" and didn't say anything else. They probably wondered for a while, though.

Of all the public places I visited so far this weekend, I only got one question. It came from my server at the Thai restaurant last night. She did not speak much English, I gathered, but wanted to know where my friend and I were from (he was in jeans, I was not). We said we were from here, and she looked confused. I asked her why she asked.
She pointed to my UK and said, "Scotland!"
Yup, every day is a good day to wear a kilt.

On Friday I went to a Hibernian golf tournament and dinner in my kilt and because many are friends I got the usual skirt comments but they were all in fun. I went back to the hotel room and was standing on the second level with friends when one woman warned me that there was a group of women at the picnic table below and they were trying to answer THE question. Later I went to lay down for a few minutes before going out for the night and took off the kilt for some loose shorts. When I made it to the tavern I was continually questioned about where the kilt went so I had to go back to the room and put it back on. One lady got a hold of me with all sorts of questions about kilts and we talked for a long time. Seems she had made one at the request of her teenage son so that he could wear it to high school formals but he wanted another. The one thing that surprised me with all of the questions was the lack of understanding about Tartans. The word plaid came up in too many conversations and I had to try to explain that there is a history to the Tartans. (Of course, since it was golf, I was wearing my economy Black Watch and that didn't go over the best at an Irish outing but they got over it.)
Even with all of the "guy in the skirt" comments, it was a good day and I gave more than a few people the xmarks website so that they could learn more about kilts. Thanks for all of your help here guys and gals.

Sorry I missed you, Dale! I was there for a while afterwards looking for and meeting with people, but never saw you. I put some pics up in the Pictures forum, though.

Question - "What's the occasion for the kilt?"
Answer- "It's 'I don't have to dress like you' day. It's a year long festival."
