New Member from the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area
Hi Y'all.
Yep I'm a Southerner (USA). You may ask what I am doing in the Land of Yinzers (for those unfamiliar with Pittsburghese, that means y'all). Well I moved here about 16 years ago for a temporary job. Let's leave it at that.
I am a former submariner, served on a submarine out of Holy Loch. Loved the region. So I will be purchasing a kilt in Polaris tartan.
Some of my ancestors are from Kindeace, Clan Donnachaidh to be exact. With that I will be purchasing others in the appropriate clan tartans. Will be joining the Clan Donnachaidh Society later this summer at the Highland Games in Ligonier, Pennsylvania.
My first kilt will be a Nightstalker from SWK. My lovely wife is getting it for my birthday. I hope after the first kilt in clan tartan, I can convince her to make them for me. She is a great seamstress and tailor. Her grandmother was from Edinburgh.
We plan on visiting Scotland in about a year. I hope to be able to meet some of you there. I'm starting to check out B&Bs there. Pour1Malt, I will be making a reservation at your establishment once we set a date for our visit.

Welcome to XMarks the Scot,
You certainly don't have to be a Scotch drinker to post here (NOT ONE WORD POUR1MALT! )
Sounds like you have a good start on your kilt collection.
Enjoy the forum

Thanks, Panache.
Collection is still in the planning stage. Have to convince my lovely wife after the first one. Maybe she'll be more understanding if I am not buying things for my motorcycle.

Welcome from the Deep South (US)!!
Hey, where were you from originally?
(Besides the "South"-> I assume that is a US Southerner)
You don't have to drink Scotch to wear a kilt.
I just happen to enjoy the flavor (the first time I tasted it)
Heck, you don't even have to be Scottish (a number of those here ain't/aren't). Some are pure breed, while most are "mutts" of one sort or another (myself included).
Again, WELCOME!!!!!

Welcome, looks like you'll fit in well here . I (and the rest of he rabble I'm sure) will love to see pictures of the Polaris tartan kilt when you get it. My next handsewn is going to be the US Air Force aka Lady Jane tartan kilt. Yep, I was a "wingnut."
Anyhow, welcome and enjoy your stay.

Everyone,
Thanks for the welcome. For those wondering. Born and raised about 50 miles (approximately 80 km) from New Orleans, Lousiana, USA. True swamp boy
My heritage is that of a typical American -- Scot, Irish, English, German, Spanish, French, Dutch, and Native American. Proud of all of them.
Pictures will be posted as kilts are purchased, may be a little while depending upon source and cost.
To all those that are veterans, it doesn't matter what nationality: Thank you!
