Ashbourne, Derbyshire
Passing through Ashbourne yesterday on my way back from the RAF veterans event at Bruntingthorpe yesterday, I spotted a large advertisement showing a kilted gent with the words Highland Gathering below it.
A search on xmarks shows there was a thread about such an event held there in 2004.
So it seems this is yet another place where ex-pat Scots meet around this time of year.

Wow, not something I had ever heard about Ashbourne, makes the place sound interesting for once!

Is anybody thinking of attending this event?
I enjoyed Harpenden so much I was thinking of driving up.
The weather forecast, however, is not very promising - predominantly light rain. I'll probably play it by ear.

No, I won't be going, rather a long drive and I'm on duty at the aviation museum the next day. If you do attend, please get some pictures and post them on here.

I would have attended (as with Harpenden, I have friends nearby with whom I could stay!), but having been away in Scotland then, almost immediately, in Harpenden, I have too many domestic matters that need attention. Had Ashbourne been scheduled for next month, however, I might well have made it.

A real eye-opener. But then there are probably more ex-pat Scots south of the border than here.

I did actually attend this rain-soaked event and will be posting a few pics and some comment shortly.
