I went to the local army surplus store today to buy my youngest some fingerless rag gloves and came across a very heavy, black, 100% leather belt, 1.75" wide, for $5.99. The price tag also said "irregular." Try as I might, I couldn't find what was irregular. I asked the clerk. "One of the snaps by the buckle doesn't snap closed." Oh. Bought the belt ($6.47, including tax) and took it the local leather and luggage store. The repair guy replaced the broken snap for $1.07 (including tax) in about two minutes. I took it home and replaced the standard silver belt buckle with my big pewter Celtic cross belt buckle. You have got to love getting a nice, heavy, new kilt belt for $7.54. I'm really excited about this. Like I said, I need to get out more.

Nice!! I have an Iron Maiden belt buckle with no belt. I may need to check into the army surplus thing.

Surplus stores are wonderful and frustrating places. With my size, I rarely find anything in the line of clothing that fits. . . . except for belts, hose and occasionally low-quarter shoes. But they are still fun to rummage through.
