    Watkins Glen, NY

My wife and I made a trip to Watkins Glen, New York last weekend. It had been several years since I we had been there and I forgot just how incredible this place is. This is, no doubt, one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. I took several hundred shots and I am having a hard time narrowing it down to those selected below. It was incredibly busy and very dark in the gorge so there are people in almost every shot and most are not the greatest quality due to the long exposure times and lack of a tripod.
This place should be an internationally acclaimed destination and I guess it is because I have never heard so many different languages being spoken before. I hiked in my USA casual and got zero comments, as it should be.

    Obligitory kilt shot:

Obligitory wife shot: (I am a very blessed guy, I have the greatest wife / best friend in the world)

lower entrance, you go in the small cave cut into the rock on the lower right hand side:

then cross this bridge, the first of several:

misc. gorge shots, this place is a geologists' dream:

Absolutly gorgeous gorge. If I recall Watkins Glen shouldn't be to far from Niagara Falls. And I thought that the only thing there was racing.

It's at the south end of Lake Seneca and the town itself is quite the tourist trap. Last weekend, they did have something going on at the track as the town was full of Ferraris and Porsches. I even saw the official Ferrari of Ontario support truck (full on big rig race hauler) and two Enzos. Very big bucks driving around town. If you are into craft brewed beers, I will highly recommend Rooster Fish Brewing. Great food, great nut-brown, great IPA.

Now you tell me. It looks great, now I have to go back up there. Last week we stopped at a vineyard on Lake Seneca and down the road to the Corning Museum of Glass. Racetrack? what racetrack? Just kidding.

Watkins Glen is a fantastic place. My wife and I try to hike there at least once a year. When I was a kid my family used to go there for the night laser show.
