Art of Kiltmaking has gone to the printer - finally!!
Hi folks
The wonderful people at Canterbury Press tell me it will be about 12 days in house until I have 4000 (yikes!) copies of the book and can start shipping the backorders.
And, unless some unforeseen disaster strikes, Walkerk can stop worrying about the Osborne Effect... (http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=30310)
Thanks for your patience, everyone!!!

Barb,
Just want to be sure. Is this print going to have the details on making a box pleat?

Ditto! Plus a clean copy would be nice. My other one has notes scratched all over it.

No, it will not have even a mention of box pleated kilts. As I said in a previous post, my co-author was unwilling to entertain any additions to the book. The second printing is just that, a second printing, not a true second edition. It's essentially the same as the first book with a few new illustrations, clarification of some of the instructions, update on the suppliers lists and assorted links, and corrections to errors.
Matt and I are going to collaborate on a supplemental chapter on box pleated kilts, and we'll make that available one way or another, probably for download as a pdf from Matt's web site.
There will probably be a bunch of pdfs, actually. Key photos, examples of pleating to stripe and sett, other things that I couldn't add to the book but would have liked to.

Can I help in any way with the supplement?
I have been making reverse Kinguisse kilts for some little time now and the term ghillie kinguisse seems to find favour with some.
They do not catch on vegetation or household items, which I found a distinct problem with the normal knife pleats.
They are like Utilikilts in some ways, but I think are more like traditional kilts.
If you are well on with the production of your material maybe mine could be added later - if acceptable - I have so many different options, but they will need to be spruced up or new examples made if they are going to be put on show.

Congrats Barb, I'm sure 4000 copies will go fast.

That depends on who signed it. Barb (yes), you (maybe), or me (I'd guess I'd owe you a new book).
