With the longish weekend, I've not worn pants since I got off work Wednesday evening.

I went to a couple of parties last night in my Utilikilt and did some shopping in my USAKilt today.

One of the attendees last night decided to do a kilt check on me last night and after confirming that I was in fact regimental, looked in shock at my wife and said "your husband isn't wearing underwear under that thing."

I think she was concerned that I might have put some on at some point in the night because she kept going back to check and make sure I still wasn't wearing any. I get pretty agreeable after a few beers. My wife just thinks it's funny.

I was out doing errands today and one lady at safeway stopped up short, looked at me and said "that's something new" and went one with her business. A little later, an older lady stopped me and said "you don't see many people dressed like that. It's pretty cool."

I'm starting to think that different types of kilts bring out different responses in people.

My tartan kilts are more easily identified as such rather than just looking like a skirt. Add a sporran and it seems to bring out a positive response quite quickly.

But I think the UK makes people stop and think about it. Is that dude wearing a skirt or is it a kilt? The local media here in Seattle periodically do bits on Utilikilt so a good portion of the population has heard of them. The woman who kept such a close eye on my absence of skivvies last night had heard of them but had never seen one in the flesh.
