    How's this braid?

I'm considering making my own sporran belt, or modifying one that I already I have. I love my RKilts belt, and want something similar. I thought I would see what ya'll thought of this braid. It's different from what you normally see, and think it could be easily done.

If your not familiar with a belt like RKilts, the back of the belt would be standard leather, then instead of where chain would be, the braid would be. Please let me know what you think.

I think it'd be a great idea, no metal chain to rub the kilt material. The type of braid pictured above is simply a series of square knots on a few inner strands, this is similar to some of the "fancy work" you usually learn in the US Navy. And, if you avoid alternating the "right over left, left over right" you end up with a spiral braid.

Yep, ardchoille, your correct. Learned this knot over in the desert. Though I don't think the spiral braid with leather would look quite right. Hmm, having a thought...desert tan paracord and light colored leather or denier nylon belt to be worn with my Marpat desert camo kilt that's coming...That might really look good!
But back to the leather. Since I have brown boots and belt and sporran, thought a chocolate leather like I described would look really nice.

I think it would too. When you get it done you should post some pics.

That braid in leather would look very good. Looks like it would lay flat as well. Be sure to post pics if you make one.
