    am i an idiot

    ok so i was at my brothers wedding last august and i wasnt kilted he had a small party afterwards but was saving a big reception until after his marine deployment now the reception is coming up and ive got the go ahead from the bride to attend kilted im in the bridal party so no room for rookie mistakes ... anychance i can pull off a brown snakeskin belt with a big snake skin buckle or am i headed back to black ... i may pick a new kilt out or go with a buchanan modern if funds dont arise ... should i just go back to black ?
    also anyway to get the plans to mock up a jacket for kilted where ... its may so i only need it for fotos but still i dont have cash for an argylle .. i may hire one

    NO, you are not... an idot. But I wouldn't wear snakeskin with a kilt. Keep the accessories simple, that includes the leather... Brown or black, KISS.

    Check eBay for deals on Argylls, likewise keep an eye on the X Marks "For Sale" forum. You could check the DIY forum for jacket conversion details. Oh yeah. The snake skin belt? Baaad idea. Waaay bad. Stick with black.

    I agree with the above. Keep it simple. Stay with a black belt, sporran, and shoes. There are many resources here on the forum which should be able help you develop options for the Argyle jacket.

    I would say go with Black accessories snakeskin is not going to look right for the setting if you ask me. As for the jacket, see if you can rent, or as MoR says look on ebay, if there are tartan shops near you see if they have an ex-rental or consignment sale.

    You would be an idiot if you have an opportunity to ask questions from a knowledgeable group and did not use it. Go ahead, ask away!

    Snakeskin = bad.

    Argyle = good.

    Rent one if you can't buy/convert one.
