    Turpin goes to Albequerque

Hey Folks! I'll be visiting the Land of Enchantment the last week of March for a conference. I'm taking the opportunity to pick up a new kilt from Kathy Lare, and would love an opprtunity to sport that thaing with some fellow kilties. I am most free on Thursday night (the 26th?).

Well, I just got back from Lordsburg, NM, last Friday after a week. A kilt night at Kranberry's, Ramona's or MacDonald's would have been the only highlight of the stay, but I didn't pack for it.

As soon as I know where I'm staying I'll post it and you locals can pick a good water hole (hopefully nearby).

Hey guys, my dates have changed - I'll be there the following week, but the specific nite is flexible. I'm thinking wed or thurs, 4/1 or 4/2. I'll be staying at the Doubletree downtown. Hope this doesn't mess up to get-together. Any good venues in that area?

Been a couple years and my memory's besotted, but remember a sort of sportsman's restaruant in some hotel in the college/downtown area...all dark wood inside..perfect attentive service, pricey but delicious food. I had the buffalo, melted in my mouth.

Was sort of haunty appearing at first and I worried my kilt might be an issue, but no problem at all. Maybe a local knows the place I sorta kinda remember through the fog...

Ah yes, Ron, you would be talking about the Ranchers Club, a higher end Grill that specializes in Wild and Range Fed meats. They have had their ups and downs, but still a nice place.

One very nice place a little closer to the University area is the Gruiex Chop house, one of the few Micheline rated places in town. Of course it kind of depends on what you are looking for, out on 4th street there is an old "speak easy" style of a chop house, then of course the Monte Christo on Central, which has been on "Drive Inns, Dinners and Dives" (food network). Once we get an idea of how many and what likes, we can direct to the right place.
