Got summons for Jury Duty. Yay.
Should be fun. Summoned as a Petit Juror for the Federal Court.
Just a thought: If I show up kilted, will they send me home?

I showed up for voir dire kilted last year and was chosen. Sitting on the jury was a good experience and I hope I get the opportunity again.

There have been a few postings on this issue of late. You might want to do a search and read them. It does seem some areas are not as accepting as others. (wow! )
General recommendation, I believe, is that you might want to check the authorities first.

I just returned from jury duty last week. I did not wear a kilt to the "choosing" nor during the trial. I didn't want to standout during the selection and certainly didn't want to distract during the trial........just my thoughts and actions...as they say "your mileage may very!"

There was a high-profile trial (Whitewater) in which one of the jurors wore a Starfleet uniform every day.

Since you're a Petit juror, why not wear a petti-coat? Klinger would!

Since I have a Houston mailing address, but live in an unincorporated area in the next county I dodge the bullet on jury summons most of the time. But if I ever get one, I will show up kilted.
Most judges around here are pretty strict about court 'dress codes', and they have absolute power about what happens in their courtrooms. I know a guy at work who had to re-schedule a traffic court hearing because he was wearing shorts and the judge wouldn't hear his case!
I think someone wearing a kilt to jury selection around here would just get labeled "eccentric" by the lawyers and not picked, but you never know.

When I was called for jury duty recently I chose not to kilt. I did not want to stand out, and I did not want to risk raising the ire of the judge.
I must say that my experience on jury duty was quite pleasant -- aside from the stress of having to decide someone's guilt.

If you show up kilted - even for the selection process - be sure not to have your
sgian dubh in your hose. Almost all courts have rigorous restriction on any sort
of "weapon" coming anywhere near a court room. You don't want to have it
confiscated - and almost surely NOT returned !!

Your right on that fact, you can't get it thru the metal detectors, and once
the sheriff has it, it's GONE!
I personally haven't been called for a long time, the last time was enough for them I guess, they looked at me very strange when I walked in,in my Black Watch, and everytime I walked to the rest room, never did get called again.
