Local tragedy
RANT STARTS
I woke this morning to find my cul d' sac clogged with cars. Last night my neighbor's 19 year old was wheeling in the desert, he rolled his pathfinder, was ejected and killed when it rolled over him. HE WAS NOT WEARING A SEATBELT OR HARNESS! Another life lost to carelessness! Now I have a funeral to attend, and neighbors to try to comfort, THIS SUCKS! Please don't let this happen to any of you! We have a "Click it or ticket" campaign going all the time, the truth of the matter especialy off road is Click it or you could be DEAD
RANT ENDS

That's a shame Ens. No worries here, always belted (it's the law). Hey even on a boat or kayaking (flatwater) I wear my pfd.

Yes, a needless loss of a young life. My thoughts and prayers to the family in their grief.

What a waste and needless tragedy. Unfortunately it's often not until we get older and wiser that we realize we are not invincible.
My condolences to the family, to you, and to your neighbors.

A senseless tragedy indeed. Our condolences to all concerned. Buckle up and HANG UP people. Not only is it the law - it just makes darned good sense.

Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.

People will always point to the one case they know where the seat belt didn't help, or actually hurt the person in an accident. To be fair, those cases do exist, but in the VAST majority of cases, the seat belt saves lives.

I agree, Dave. I grew up with a vivid example of that, having had a teacher in h.s. who was crippled for life from being thrown from his vehicle, while his companion was killed.
To be fair, they were missionaries in the Brazilian jungle riding an old jeep, so I'm not sure if those would have had seat belts. But seeing him with a severe limp every day was enough to impress on me how seat belts would have saved them.

a similar tragedy happened to a friend of mine last year. He raced off-road buggy's for a living and was simply running down the street to test out some new modifications and when he turned around to come back a wheel caught and flipped the buggy. He was crushed under the roll-cage because he was not wearing the racing harness.
It doesn't matter what you are doing or how far you are going...always buckle up because stupid and freak accidents can happen anytime.

It is always sad when a young light goes out so suddenly. A few years ago we were awoken by police cars and ems in front of our next door neighbors home. The teenage son had shot himself in the head in the middle of the night.
