    SS Edmund Fitzgerald

It was 34 years ago today the SS Edmund Fitzgerald sank in Lake Superior. All 29 souls were lost. May they rest in peace.

I have always thought that Gordon Lightfoot's ballad was a fitting tribute.

I remember it, a friend of mine lived on the banks of Superior and said he's never saw a storm like that before or sence. Rest in peace.

One of my all time favourite songs and I play it whenever I'm driving around Lake Superior past the area where the Fitz. sank.

a haunting song and a memorable voice; I hope it helps in the duy we have to remember those who for daily bread go down to the sea in ships
May you find joy in the wee, ken the universe in the peculiar and capture peace in the compass of drop of dew

To take nothing away from the lost aboard the Fitzgerald this is not the first time Gordon Lightfoot wrote about the loss of live at sea. Although I could find Lightfoot's recording of this haunting song here is a cover version (starts at 0:54). A tribute to thos that only gordon Lightfoot could write.

Darn Witches. They're dangerous seas this time of year. Many, many boats and sailers were lost.
