Christmas attire for a dance..
Here is a quick picture, taken (actually after) my daughters annual "Snowflake Ball" at their elementary school. It was actually a very full evening. The younger daughter first had to perform in her Christmas recital outside, 55 degrees, and it started raining 5 minutes before the end. I took my jacket and held it over the wife and I so she could finish videoing the show. Unfortunately, the bottom hem of the leather jacket I was holding over my head slid under the collar of the shirt. Needless to say, about 2 minutes after I had lifted the jacket over my head, I started getting a steady stream of cold water down my back! Yuck!
Then we headed to the Snowflake Ball. After being there for about 40 minutes, i had to leave and head to our church for a wedding rehearsal (I run the sound and video). It was still raining, and we only have one working vehicle right now, so I decided to walk (about 20 minutes) so my lovely wife could have the car to take the kids home. It was not a nice walk, rain still coming down and temperature down even further, but the kilt and leather jacket kept me comfy and warm. Sure glad I had worn wool this night. The kilt had been wet twice, and I was still dry and snug underneath. Never had a chance to test it in this kind of weather before and for this long outdoors.

Great pose and a super looking kilt.
Its amazing how wool kilts keep us warm and dry. Last weekend I walked in the Alexandria Scottish Christmas parade in the rain/snow. My jacket which was tagged waterproof became drenched through and through. My kilt keep the lower part of me warm and dry!

I have always thought that life is a bit sweeter and there is far more enjoyment if I've had to struggle to achieve something. It is good that the day worked out well in the end.

KCW,
Was the kilt you wore made of medium weight wool?

Billmcc, that is a tough question to answer. It is the heaviest kilt I own, but I don't think it is 16oz. I bought it second hand a few years ago after I saw somebody with the Millenium tartan and really liked it. Let me see if I can find the old emails from when I was chatting with the seller.

Hey old friend, welcome back. A sharp looking tartan for sure!
