Cumnock Highland Games

An exciting start to a fine Sunday morning at Cumnock Highland Games as the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Dakota performed three low flypasts over the field. This aircraft entered service with the USAAF in 1942 and later served the RCAF and then the RAF.

Members of the Royal Regiment of Scotland parachuted in from another aircraft to compete in the Tug o'War.

I was ready to meet people on the Clan Cunningham tent

The other half of team Cunningham at Cumnock, Councillor Rose-Ann Cuninghame, wife of Captain Robert H. Cuninghame of Caprington.

We were visited by the Chieftain of the Games, Bill Stafford and his wife.

Rose-Ann with two past chieftains, Bill Salmond on left and Willie Crawford on right.

We were visited by xmarker Tam Blackwood and his wife Mary Rose.

I had my wee pocket camera with me and took some shots of passers by, this wee lad in long kilt and matching hat was said to be visiting from Texas with his family

This was a first for me, spotting not one but two guys both wearing ghillie brogues, hose, flashes, sgiandhus and khaki SHORTS!
More to follow shortly

Cute in Cunningham
Alex you look smashing in the Cunningham outfit and especially in the vest. Won't make it to New Hampshire, but will go for a day to Cunningham tent in Pleasanton, CA. Scotland's looking good in the summer.
Cheers,
Leslie

Thankyou Leslie, I am proud to be able to wear the Cunningham tartan vest (waistcoat) which you gave me. It also goes well with my black kilt.
Not clearly visible in the picture, the sporran which was made by A_Hay has the Cunningham unicorn motif embossed on the leather.
Sorry you can't come to New Hampshire Games. Hopefully you will meet up with a few of the NorCal xmarkers while you are at Pleasanton.
Best wishes, Alex.
