    10/10/2010 Steampunk/Scottish wedding

***DISCLAIMER: I know these pictures are crap, but the camera we had sucked. So bear with them!***

My wedding coordination company, Colorado Celtic Weddings, did a wedding yesterday. It was interesting- the ladies were all Steampunk, the guys, Highland- well, more like New World Celt. Turned out to be a fun night! Here are the most usable pictures that my wife and I got.

The wedding itself was a combination of two ceremonies. It was a handfasting and a short ring ceremony, with a reading from the groom's sister in between the two ceremonies. It turned out to be really nice!

The venue was called the Lion's Gate Center, in Lafayette, Colorado.

Most of the bridal party, bride and groom in the middle:

I did NOT fall into the pond behind me! Miraculously...

Groom and myself. Notice he's like 2 feet taller than me! The guys was huge!!

Please note the lovely swing of the pleats of my double box pleat kilt!

    Procession:

The flower girl and the ring bearer:

At this point, I need to show how the rings were brought in. The couple wanted a horse shoe with a Celtic cross welded to the inside. The wanted a size 7 horse shoe, which I would describe as a toilet seat for a leprechaun. And then with the cross welded inside, it weighed a good 8 pounds! Poor kid could barely lift it. I couldn't talk the couple out of the huge shoe, however. So I got it done for them- had a blacksmith friend of mine make it. Here it is:

    And... Here comes the bride:

    Ceremony:

The grooms sister gave a short reading:

And then the rings were exchanged... Sorta. It was a rainy day. There was a table outside where all the books and such were on display, including the horse show with the rings. Things got shuffled around a bit when it started raining, and at some point in the day, the bride's ring came untied and got lost. The ring they used during the ceremony was a loaner. I do have give the bride credit. Most would have freaked out! She was really calm about the whole thing until afterwards... and then the ring was found by the best man, of all people, proving himself worthy of the title.

    And... The happy couple!

The happy Reverend- happy for having made it for a full 20 minutes by the pond and having not fallen in!!

Tim and I by the Tardiss after the ceremony- had to get this shot!!

So it was a cold, rainy, wet, fun day! These were fun people. They insisted that we all stay for the reception and dinner, which the three of us- Tim, my wife and myself- did. And a good time was had by all.

Great shots, glad they found the ring afterwards, looks like a fun day had by all.

btw the red kiosk with all the panes of glass is what we in Scotland would describe as a telephone box.

Here is what a Tardis looks like.

A former police officers' box. This one in Glasgow is now used as a coffee stall.

Yeah, I know, but that's the closest we can get here!

    Love it, Reverend Wingnut.

And glad no one pushed you in the pond, Hawk.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
