Howdy from Houston
I bought my first kilt (Mackay) for my oldest daughter's wedding last June, after many years of putting it off for various reasons. My father also finally had an excuse to buy, and we rented a Black Watch for my 9 year old son. Now he can't wait to get one to match ours.
I've gotten to wear it a couple of times since then, and I'm looking forward to learning more about kilts and all the related topics on this site.
I'm also going to be making my first trip to Scotland over Christmas, and look forward to picking up some good quality accessories while in Eninburgh.

Welcome, welcome! Congratulations on getting to go to Scotland! You'll
love it. Be sure to bring home lots of pictures, as on this forum, if there aren't pictures, it didn't happen.
