Pics from my St. Pat's celebrations

I celebrated Saint Patrick's Day twice this year: first at a parade and second on March 17th at a campus pub after class.

The parade was fun because it felt like a real community event with participants and observers all in high spirits. There was only one pipe band though I didn't manage to get a pic Those were the only other kilts I saw but people seemed generally excited about me wearing one!

Here's me with a couple leprechauns:

A better look at my outfit for the parade featuring the public debut of my New World Irish tartan kilt:

Some miscellaneous pics from the parade:

On the actual day of Saint Pat's, I had class and figured that I should dress a bit nicer. SWK Heavyweight shadow tartan kilt, Saint Patrick Blue shirt, MacQuarrie modern tie. My lass took the opportunity to put on a schoolgirl kilted skirt that I picked up for her a while back.

I had drinks with a few classmates after class but the graduate student lounge closes early, so then I met up with my lass to try to find another pub. Everything was pretty packed with lineups and we ended up uneventfully at a sports bar At least they had Guinness and some much needed grub!

The best line of the night came from our server upon her spying my sgian: "A knife in your sock how... festive?"

Here's us on the way home:

    BTW Great jacket and waistcoat,
Thank you Downunder Kilt. The jacket is Harris Tweed so I can't go wrong there... even if it is a little too big for me. One of these days maybe I'll get it altered.

The jacket may "feel" big, but it looks just fine. I wouldn't alter it, were I you. You are comparitively young. Trust me, you will "grow" into it. Jackets are subject to such closet shrink that it is frightening.

Great jacket, great waistcoat, and great pics. Thanks for sending them our way. Do you always have that smile, or just when she is on your arm?

Maybe that's why I have been loathe to have it altered... it seems a shame to cut the Harris Tweed too!

And yes, my lass keeps a smile on my face Not only is she pretty and she loves tartan, but she's the one who found and purchased the kilt-cut tweed waistcoat on eBay.
