Czech National Tartan - advice
Dear all,
as a Czech, I´ve recently bought Czech National Tartan. But I think I need an advice from you - what you´d prefer concerning this tartan? Pleating to set or military style? I was thinking about the military style, nevertheless, I am not sure which highlighted line will look the best. Would you be so kind to hel me?
Thanks a lot, Jiri.

4 types of pleating - which one you prefer?

Sorry for the quality of pleating, it is just a preview!

Hi Jiri,
I am not seeing any images, so i have included one.

Personally, I think this is a very handsome tartan and think it should be pleated to the set to show it off. Any pleating to the stripe, I think, would detract from its beauty.
And welcome to XMarks from Norfolk, England.
Regards
Chas

I doctored up the the pictures so they appear. Everyone should see them now. I don't think Flickr allows hotlinking so I just did a quick & dirty re-host on em.
I also agree that this would look best done to the sett rather than the stripe.
Regards,
JD

That's really a great tartan. I generally prefer stripe pleating, but I think I'd also go with sett for this one. It's already busy enough.

Thank you all for your warm welcome and your oppinion - I know that this tartan is very good looking, so I think I will follow your advice and start to pleat to sett. I hope the work on a kilt will start soon, but I am affraid it will take lots of time for me.
And thanks to CDNSushi for visibility of my photos for you :-)

I like the pleats to the sett as well.

Most of the pleat-to-stripe possiblities look as though they would be extremely tricky.
If you're planning to make the kilt yourself, pleating to sett is also more forgiving of minor irregularities in sewing the fell. When pleating to the stripe, all the parallel lines make my mistakes show up prominently!
Flickr does allow linking. The easiest way is to use the drop-down menu beside the email/facebook/twitter logos. Under "Grab the HTML/BBCode," select the "BBcode" button. BBcode is compatible with XMTS. Just copy and paste the contents of the text box like this:

Photobucket has a similar option. The original post had a syntax error in the URL ("http://" was repeated).
