tThese tailcoats are being offered on eBay in a variety of sizes starting at $4.99 plus $11.50 shipping. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=....c0.m270.l1313 Cut off the tails, add Celtic buttons and you have a very cheap approximation to a Prince Charlie jacket. Some details are off (shawl collar rather than peaked lapels, no epaulets), but for less than $5.00...who cares! BTW, I have no relationship to the eBay seller.

Can't wait to see how it turns out! For $15, you can't go wrong.
I bought a little tux jacket for my ring-bearer and had my mom sew prince charlie buttons on it. The jacket was $20 on eBay and the buttons were about $10. It was cheaper than renting a boy's prince charlie and it looked the part.

My first formal kilt jacket was a similar modification. Sounds like a plan. Good find.

Epaulets could be made from the material cut from the tails if you really want to go that route.
