Back From Japan
Just back this morning from the Bujinkan's annual Daikomyosai martial "training festival" and our grandmaster's 80th-birthday party (81st by Japanese reckoning) in Japan. "Public link" to my album is at

I took two kilts, in California State and Douglas Modern tartans; the latter is what I wore at our grandmaster's birthday party in Noda and at the "after party" at a British-style/themed pub in Kashiwa called the Hub.
Great training, and made some great new friends, particularly from Denmark, Australia, and Serbia.

Re: Back From Japan
Bummer you didn't tell me you were in town. Possibly could've met up for a pint!

Dale,
That outfit you are wearing with your Douglas modern kilt is stunning. Very dapper, indeed!

Why thank you sir!
It's worth noting that the ensemble's key elements come from folks familiar to Xmarkers:
- Kilt from New House Highland
- Harris tweed argyle & waistcoat from Scottish Tartans Museum Gift Shop
- Ferguson Britt rayskin sporran from STM
- Claret Lewis hose and ancient blue garter ties from STM
As I anticipated, the rayskin sporran went over very well with the Japanese. Especially with local lasses at the "after party" in Kashiwa. And that's all I have to say about that! :-)

Re: Back From Japan
Great picks from what sounds like a great trip, Dale.
If I remember, you were going to use your Skyroll to carry your kilts on this trip. How did that work for you?
