Formal event hose color
I will be attending a formal event and would like to go kilted.
I have a 16 oz wool kilt Scott Green tartan.
A black Prince Charles jacket/vest.
Black bow tie.
Ghillie brogues
I was told that I should wear cream colored hose and red flashes.
I have light green and dark green hose
Blue/gray hose
Black hose
I do not have white or cream hose. Is it worth buying cream hose and is cream hose required?
Lang may your lum reek and a wee mouse never leaves your cupboard with a tear in its eye.

Dark green - not white or cream.

I don't know the colors in your tartan, but I would skip the cream hose and go for the green that best matches, or even the black. Would the red flashes go with the tartan? That may not be the place to introduce a new color.

Cream hose are not required, wear what you have, in this case I'd say Dark Green would be the best bet.

I agree with Chas and McMurdo. Dark Green, which is what I now wear with my Thistle Green PC for formal evening wear.

Re: Formal event hose color
I might could loan you a claret pair if your foot size is close to mine and we can work shipping out.
I do agree the cream/ecru would do better highlight the lacing on the ghillies, but I don't think it is necessary.
If diced isn't an option, of the seven colors of solid hose I have claret is far and away my first choice for evening wear. I think black and white diced would probably be the absolute hotness with black tie in clan green if you can find a pair to try.
EDIT: I changed to a much better lighting pic from my wedding, please to igniore the plaid and groom's sporran. Lemme chop some black and white diced on there. I like the claret, but there is nothing up top to balance it.

Tartan Ferret. I'm thinking light green hose and equally light blue flashes (ties).

Re: Formal event hose color
I am liekly overthinking this, but to me soild claret hose with a black waistcoat doesn't look balanced.
Red and black diced or red and white diced, to me look better, but really I like black and white diced. If I couldn't find black and white diced and didn't like the claret I would personally probably go with red/black diced. This is (clearly) a quick and dirty chop:

I do agree with McMurdo that if you are not going to buy new hose probably the dark green is the best choice already in your closet.
