Homebrewers: Finally made some beer!!! It's been ~6 months
Made an oatmeal chocolate stout. :yum:

Pitched the yeast about 5 minutes before this pic. That little barrel next to it is an old rum recipe that didn't turn out very well. I'm leaving it in there for about a year to see if it ever gets any better.
Fairly simple recipe: Pale malt, flaked barley, oats, carapils, chocolate malt, and roasted barley. Then 60 minutes of East Kent Goldings. I had to use pellet hops for this one :grumble: Finished up with White Labs Irish Ale Yeast.
I've made this one before, and it was well received. But, I didn't use any oats, and it felt a bit too watery for my liking. This round I made the mistake of using 1/4 of a pound too much roasted barley... we'll see how it turns out. :xfings:
I also tried something new. In a throw back to my old liquid intercooler days, I put some dry ice in some methanol, and ran that super cooled mixture through my wort chiller. I had some methanol left over from some earlier in the year, so I figured, why the hell not? :rotfl: I don't think it'll end up being worth the effort, but you never know. Did save me some time though, not that I was in a rush to begin with.
Next week: Honey ale. My most successful beer to date. :headbang:
