After a walk this afternoon in a 5-yd Kingussie crafted by Matt Newsome (New House Highland), I dragged my wife outside to snap a few pics.
The first shows the Blaylock tartan (a bit crinkly from the walk and a drooping sporran - my fault, sorry) in heavyweight Dalgliesh Reproduction cloth. Despite the sunlight, it was very cool, thus the leather jacket. Note the moon by the pine tree.
The next pic is highlighted by a shadow picture of two turkeys fighting over a brick. If you can tear your eyes away from that, can you see the box pleat in the kilt? I like the way Matt does that.
Matt pleated the kilt to the black stripe so that the brighter red color is hidden in the pleats. It flashes brightly as I walk along, or in this case as I stare at a recently pruned Cottonwood tree.
Actually, Matt made three Blaylock Kingussie kilts - two more for my son and brother. In the not-too-distant future I hope to post pictures of my son and me in full regalia including our matching half-belted plaids (also made by Matt) and matching tartan vests - a tartan extravaganza! Stay tuned, or be forewarned, whichever applies.![]()
