Very Excited! - The Keith Centre
The Luminous Joan and I are planning our summer Scotland trip....OK, well... *I* am planning the Scotland Trip, and several really cool things are coming together. One that's particularly relevant to X Marks is that I've e-mailed ahead and asked permission to see the Keith Kiltmaking and Textile Center
http://www.kiltsandtextiles.org/
This is the site of the former Keith Kiltmaking School, which closed several years ago. They still offer kiltmaking courses, both short-term and long-term at the Centre, but I believe it's a non-profit, now. Whatever the case, though it quite clearly says that the Centre is **Not Open to The Public** , I have a very nice e-mail from the volunteer coordinator who says to ring her up when I'm in town, and she'll give us a tour and an explanation of what they do.
JAZZED about that!!! I will absolutely take a bucketload of photographs and put them up here at X Marks for you all to drool over.

Alan,
"ring her up when I'm in town". I would try to tie things down a bit more than that - she could well be on holiday, for example.

I gave her the exact date that we would be there, and she responded with saying that their kiltmaking instructor would be on holiday, so no classes would be available. However, I certainly see your point and I will check in with her again before we leave!

Alan: As you probably know, Kathy Lare graduated from the Keith Kilt School. Some of her experiences and pictures may be seen at
http://kathyskilts.com/
under the heading "About Kathy". There are also some pictures of X Markers on her site.
I hope you have a great trip to Scotland. Take lots of pictures for us to enjoy.
John
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Llwyd;
If I'm not mistaken, the Keith school is in the town of Keith, which unfortunately is not in the actual Clan Keith area. If you are interested in your Keith heritage, I can suggest some places to go, and even email you some pictures. PM me if interested so we don't hi-jack this thread.

Well, you'll all need to be patient. We're going in July.
