They must not know of formal kilt attire.
I saw this on the MSN front page and thought I would share. If these can bearly be seen I doubt I would spring for a pair. I start shaking and sweating if my kilt hose get near the $50 range.

LOL ! All about perspective huh? 50 bucks is my mental limit on kilt hose, so I don't think I'd ever pay near that much for 'standard' socks! But I actually do often wear red socks on the rare times I'll wear a suit these days, so those red "papal socks" interest me. I might have to contact my cousin Jimmy at the vatican and get him to send me some!

I wear red socks from Gammarelli very frequently. They are some of the best socks, IMHO. I have several pairs in red. I also get socks from a small French company, Mazarin Grand Faiseur. One can order Gammarelli and Mazarin socks from a delightful little company, Mes Chaussettes Rouges.http://en.meschaussettesrouges.com/

The Gammarelli red IS very nice. Pardon the tangent here, but I'm curious - (and I apologize as this has most likely been addressed before,) what's to keep us from wearing "shooting socks" vs. kilt socks. what are the differences? they appear relatively interchangeable, no?

If I'm not mistaken Matt Newsome wears them quite often.

With the exception of some of the more outlandish patterns (some of which being quite desirable for daywear) I don't believe there is much of a difference. And the price difference reflects that, as they are for the most part, priced similarly to kilt hose.
Have fun and throw far. In that order, too. - o1d_dude
