    Smile On Safari Today

So the synagogue where I work closed entirely today and the staff, 50 or so of us, went up to Santa Rosa to Safari West. I've been hearing about it for a couple of years, never been, now I want to go back!

Just a very few of the pics I took:

    Egyptian Sacred Ibis:

And our guides for the tour totally loved the kilt:

That's the "Old Culloden" tartan, my newest kilt from Matt Newsome.

With "Serengeti Safari II" shirt in British tan and J.L. Powell's "Okavango Vest".

Dale: Thanks for posting the pics - like going to Africa without the travel hassles.

I'll have to keep Safari West in mind, when I visit my brother in Wilton. Looks like a great place to spend a few hours.

And, I still love that Old Culloden kilt. Rugged looking outfit. I especially like the belt and hose.

I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

In the 1970s they tried to make a go of that concept with Lion Country Safari in the Southern California coastal hills, on the old Irvine Ranch. Sad story of its decline can be found at Wiki.

We do have the San Diego Wild Animal Park, an offshoot of San Diego Zoo and a much more viable enterprise (being focused on conservation first and tourism second).

Great photos and a beautiful kilt, appropriately accessorized!

My, that takes me back. I was stationed 1970-72 at Marine Corps Air Station El Toro, just a few miles from Lion Country Safari. When we would do full power run ups of the fighter jet engines, the lions would hear that as a rival pride, and roar back!

Wonderful pictures. And you look perfect for the outing. I really like that tartan, is it a box pleat?

Thanks, I love it too, both for the history behind it and the look of it.

The kilt is a 6-yard knife pleat, pleated to the vertical red stripe.
