It's St. Columba Day!
It's St. Columba Day!
Who else in the Rabble has a clan, name or some other affiliation to this missionary priest to Scotland?
Leaving Bailly Castle, N. Ireland for Mull of Kintyre, Scotland in 2003. Re-acting St. Columba's voyage some 1440 years before.

At least my store bought calendar has a note to mark it. "Feast of Saint Columba (Patron Saint of Scotland)" That in itself is pretty cool.
For sure kilted for it and will be kilted on the waters later today...so kinda celebrating.

Aye Ron, that's celebrating; it all depends on your attitude and you have it friend!

Today I kilted up for our 7 hour drive through the Tennessee and North Carolina mountains to near Raleigh, NC. I wore and am still wearing my XMarks tartan, Freedom kilt I ordered last October. It's great for traveling with Steve's kilt design with three, count 'em, three hidden pockets. No need for a sporran when driving. I keep my cell phone in the hidden pocket between the inner apron and outer apron. No problem to access the phone when wearing the car seat belt. It's my "go to" kilt when going to a store or out to dinner.

True to my word. Was out kilted on Lake Powell today to celebrate St. Columba's day.

Pretty cool gig. A free 3 hour lake tour for all the local survivors of cancer as part of the local Relay For Life.
When this lovely "Executive Officer" of the boat, Commander Kim, asked why I was kilted I explained it was St. Columba's day and what that meant.

That's my USA Kilts Casual in Isle of Skye tartan dancing in the wind.

Better Late than Never...
Cheers, Mael!
Too late to don the kilt today (does it count that I wore it all day yesterday?), so will have to go with Plan-B (or should it be "Plan-C"?): a dram of the uisce beath! Cause it's always more fun when you're drinking for a cause! :-P

Went to dinner with my wife, kilted, to a neighborhood restaurant. It's a slightly hip "nice casual" place, generally trends about 10 years younger than my age. Wore my Black Watch Burnett's & Struth casual, black ss button up collared shirt, black hose, tartan flashes, black oxfords, Mojo Leather belt and sporran.
No commentary from guests nor waitstaff. Some looks from some patrons, but nothing more than a double-take, no stares. I was so hoping to tell someone I was kilted in recognition of St. Columba!
