Scotweb Essential Casual Kilt
Hey guys,
do you have any experiences with Scotweb's essential 5 yardcasual kilt?
And I am thinking of a Hector Russell daywear jacket in lovat green or blue...
Please let me know what you think of it!
Thanks,
Tom

Hi Pipersson
I just received my Scotweb 5 yard casual kilt last Thursday. All in all, I'm pleased with the craftmanship and construction, and the 16 oz wool used to make it is very good for the price. Excellent in fact. However, I would add a caveat: I chose to use the 'free' mailing via Royal Mail to have my kilt shipped, and it took 2 months to arrive (ordered May 10th, arrived July 12th), so if you can swing the extra for a rapid transportation, it might be worth it. I've been on a diet / exercise regime now for almost 8 months, and in the time it took for my kilt to arrive, I have shrunk!! I don't know whether I'm going to even get the chance to wear my kilt out and about before I'm going to have to sell it!!
Also - and this is a personal preference - if you can afford it (and want a more traditional kilt) I would be going for their 7 yard essential scotweb traditional kilt http://www.scotweb.co.uk/products/es...ditional-kilt/ because it's only a little more than the casual 5 yard kilt, but it's designed to be worn at the traditional height, etc.
I've included the only pic I have of me testing the fit of my new kilt below:

Hi hachiman,
thanks for your reply...is it the essential casual kilt or the regular casual kilt they offer you have?
Yeah schipping costs are brutal...about 30 € from UK to Germany....I want to wear the kilt in the beginning of september for highland games in Rüsselsheim called "Mainlandgames" because it's near the river Main...:-) so I will have to invest it.
Yes I know about the 7 yarder but I don't really like the colours of Nevis range of HoE in Smith tartan which I would choose...would prefer Lochcarron or Marton Mills, these are not available with 7 yarder...
For the essential casual I would choose MacDonald ancient 13 oz. by Batley which has very nice pale colours...
You look great in your kilt...is it Wallace? Of course..you seem to be one ;-)
Oh, that's a pity...I usually have the problems in the opposite direction :-)

I disagree on the "free" mail bit. I have made 3 major purchases from Sctoweb - all sent via Royal Mail (free) and arrival from shipping date was within a week. You must remember that a custom made kilt takes several weeks to make. Order date and shipping date are not the same. Shipping involving FedEx has been reported on this site to involve delays with US Customs and extra charges made by FedEx the handle the custom charges.

I have 2 five yard casual kilts from them now and happy as well with the construction, I live in the uk so postage isn't a problem. the only thing is the price, £150 and upwards, with most being about £200, still the quality and choice is excellent.

It's the Essential Casual, and yes, it's a Wallace Modern.
