Honor Society Induction
Pictures from my induction into Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society last night. I'm wearing a USA Kilts Premier 8 Yard Kilt in the Firefighter's Memorial Tartan. My thanks to Jamie and Glen for the "1 Kilt, 10 Looks" post for the advice that it contains.

Congrats -- and just by the way, you look very sharp indeed!

Bill: You should be, and I suspect you are, very honored to have been accepted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society. Congratulations! You look splendid in your Scottish attire. You do us all proud. Well done!

I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Well done. The brain is a muscle and must be exercised like any other muscle. Very cool.
By the by, you look great, too! Very "smart" indeed.
Especially where your sporran falls between the curves of your Braemar? jacket.
As well, I'm envious of your garter tie length. The turn-over / garter area has been my nemesis lately.
Congratulations.

Thank you, Sir, for the compliment. Where I am, there doesn't seem to be many kilt wearers (I've only seen one other and he was on a bottle).
The jacket is actually considered a Crail as the sleeves are nothing fancy and only have the one button. Matt Newsome has a very good write up about the minor differences here:Kilt Jacket. I obtained the jacket through the Scottish Tartans Museum Gift Shop a year and a half ago. The garter flashes I purchased through Sport Kilt, they call them kilt flashes there. I position the elastic above the line where the hose knitting stops and the cuff knitting begins and then give them a tug down after the fold over.
The hardest thing was to first find a proper pocket square and then find a tie that wouldn't clash with either the tartan or the square. Luckily, Rocky at USA Kilts sends a wee bit of tartan material that you can carry about while shopping. Last year I wore the jacket with a Stillwater heavyweight in Black Watch and a medium blue shirt and a black tie for our wedding anniversary to what was our only 4 star restaurant. It easily bested the majority of the New Years Eve crowd.

See, an old Chief hole snipe can clean up a bit once in a while.
