Reasonably priced tweed
I'm looking for a reasonably priced jacket and waist coat for day wear, anyone know of any good links?
I'm not a t-shirt kind of guy, and lowlands vests and Jacobite shirts aren't working for an all the time look for me. Being in a small community where the only other kilted person pays no heed to kilt fashion what so ever, I'm short on options. I like the tweed jacket and waist coat look, but I have no clue where to start.

For many years the only jacket-waistcoat combo I had was a Highland Green Combo from the Celtic Croft. Although it's listed as premium, it is not a 'name brand' tweed. Their selection is limited, but the price for the two-piece set was good and they've seen much good service; I've worn them to casual weddings, informal opera performances and other such like. If you want more variety, as others will no doubt go on to suggest, try either USA Kilts or the STM. And by all means, keep your eyes peeled on sites like Ebay (as long as you're not my size ).

Could always try your hand at a conversion... Probably a good time to find harris tweed in a thrift store... Match it with a tattersall shirt...

If you would like a jacket cut similar to an Argyle but de-militarized for every day wear there is the Kilt Kut Suit Coat.

I have about 20 different Tweeds.
Want a contrasting vest with the jacket?

If you can fit a standard size, $386.50cdn for jacket and vest.
If you need a custom size $425.00cdn.
These are made to measure or custom made depending on your requirements.
Delivery in 8-10 weeks.
Made in the UK from fabric woven in the UK.

I currently have a charcoal grey (will go well with virtually any tartan) tweed jacket and matching waistcoat from Kinloch-Anderson for sale here on XMTS. It's a very well made garment at a very good price, and with your location of Ohio, I could ship it to you in no time at all (I live in the greater Cincinnati area)! Check it out at the below link:

I thank you for the offer, but alas, I'm a reasonably larger size. I'm 6'2", and around 275 lbs.

i bought a used prince charlie at the "fair" level--no obvious defects and no need to buy a size up, as is often recommended. i wore it last weekend to a mardi gras event. used jackets in a variety of sizes do not show up often.

but that kilt kut suit coat and vest look great.... really, really great.

I suggest cruising your local thrift/Goodwill stores and looking for a jacket and vest you like. There are several of us here who can convert them for you, for a lot cheaper than buying kilt jacket.

Now I'm no businessman Steve, but I bet you'd sell a lot more of those jackets if you got your accessory page up on your website. I've been looking at it for two years and it has always said "Coming Soon" but it still ain't here! What the heck?
