Newbie from Ottawa, On. Canada
Hey there,
Although this isn't my first post and I have been a member for a few weeks, I figured I would make my newbie post to get familiarized with everyone else here.
Ive been wearing kilts off and on since last September when I decided to make my own kilt. I basically went in blind with a handful of pictures from a google image search. I made the pleats backwards and didnt account for my seat size, so it sits a little funny. I've made a few since then that have turned our much better. I sold a few to friends. I have since gone strictly to purchased PV kilts. I have five 8-yard PV kilts (MacDonald, Black Watch, Black, Ramsay Blue, Irish National) from Heritage of Scotland. A black X-kilt that someone ordered for my birthday (still remains a mystery), and an Elkommando kilt for work and sport wear. With my collection as it is now, I plan to go nearly permanently kilted. My wife says I look good in both a kilt and pants, which I'm fairly certain is her way of saying, "Please continue to wear pants sometimes."
I'd really like a tailor-made wool kilt in either Maple Leaf or Nova Scotia tartan. But since I'm still a student and my wife and I recently bought our first house, it will likely be a year or more before that happens.
I hope to become a bit of a regular here, so I'm sure you'll be hearing more from me.
Cheers,
Alan

Welcome, from Inverness-shire. If I may offer a wee bit of advice over kilt attire and that is "hurry slowly when it comes to kilt attire and ALWAYS put family first".

Welcome to XMarks Alan! I used to visit Ottawa quite a bit, and watched local TV from there while growing up and later living for a while in Massena NY, just across the bridge from Cornwall. Pray tell, what are ya studying?

Hello Alan and from the wooded highlands of The Big South Fork, north central Tennessee!
Wow, five kilts. If they are well made no one will know what the material is unless upon "close inspection" but there's nothing like a wool tank! Save your money -- other things are important too.
Glad to have you with us.
