My 80th Kilt

So way back I entered the Utilikiltarian of the Month contest - again...first time won a Basil Survival II. This time apparently I was selected as October 2013 Utilikiltarian of the Month. This time I won a Black Workman's. Had one before but outgrew it.

So this is kilt number 80 for me. Only have 30 some on hand. Sold many I outgrew. Today took the new kilt out for its first spin on a road trip.





These two pics were taken at the condor release site on House Rock Valley Road a few miles north of Hwy 89A that runs out to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.

Was a great road trip. Stopped at a convenience store on the rez and the young male clerk said, "Awsome!!" when he saw the Utilikilt. I stopped at the river trip warehouse where we outfitted for down canyon last year and a guy there said, "You're the guy from Page who does the laundry!" Actually meaning something similar I can't mention. Then the lady in the little store there said, "You're Ron Macdonald from Page!" Hadn't seen her in 10 months...kilts get folks to remember us. Then driving down House Rock Valley Road (dirt and remote) saw a huge antelope. Been in town 13 years and this is the first ever antelope I've seen in the area despite names like Antelope Canyon, Antelope Creek, Antelope Point, and Antelope Pass all being in the area. Then down at Navajo Bridge over Marble Canyon there were FIVE condors playing in the wind. Most I'd seen before was three. What a treat! Back in Page stopped for dinner and the host looked at me and said, "Are you from Scotland?" Guess I've got some more work to do locally.

A long loop road trip, over 200 miles, but some of the most beautiful country and critters. Guess the new kilt is broken in well now.

Congratulations on your 80th kilt, Ron. I doubt I have ever seen pictures of anyone who looked more at home in his own skin than you, and that always makes every kilt you wear look great on you. Couple that with unbeatable scenery and the pics are always over-the-top special. I have looked forward to every one of them. Keep 'em coming.

Ron, I can honestly say that I hope I'm even half as awesome as you when I grow up. This is assuming that I ever do grow up, which at 44 is looking less and less likely every day.
