31 years wasted!
Well, I guess it's pretty obvious that I'm new to the forum and to kilting in general by the section of the forum , but anyway....
My name is Aaron and I live in the Philadelphia suburbs. I actually came across this board by accident while trying to research my roots, (Welsh, Irish, and English- being such I tend to have a lot of inner conflict, as well as a genetic predisposition to Guinness and fiddle music). Both my paternal and maternal grandmothers were Murphys, hence the name.
I've just sent off my order to Bear for my first kilt, and Bear if you read this I've lit a thimble shaped candle to bless your pleats and keep your fingers puncture free.
I can't beleive I've spent the first 31 years of my life trying to fit into the groove and play nice with the rest of the herd. I mean, I'm going to be dead one day! I'll be darned if I'm spending the rest of my days wearing pants (or particularly sober). And anyway, if all anyone can say at my funeral is that I wore a kilt, then I probably haven't lived a life worth mentioning at all. Graham's signature says it all,"Be happy living, for you're a long time dead."
PS- Sorry for the length of this post. I have a tendency to run off at the keyboard.

Hello Aaron, welcome to the board, it sounds like you'll fit in just fine, and there's no limit to how many words you write (I can guarantee that), so rattle on all you like!!
I "wasted" 51 years, so you have a head start on me laddie!!

Welcome aboard Aaron. Heck, I was 52 the first time I put on a kilt. Best thing I've done in years.

You are not alone, Bro. I didn't get my first 'real kilt' until I turned 31.
You will love your Bear Kilt. I have a 4 yard made earlier this year and have a 8 yard Maple Leaf on order.

Hi Aaron, pull up a chair, stretch your legs out, relax and crack a cold one, you're with a good crew.

Another warm welcome Aaron! I think you will find yourself liking this board here, but be warned it's addictive. And as for the wasted 31 years, there is nothing you can do about the past as it has already come and gone, it's what you can do about the future that makes life worth living! I hope your Kilted life brings you as much happeness as it has to most Men here.

Good to have you on the board! Andrew is right.
Forget those the past and move forward in a kilt as
much as possible.
