Red, WHite & Blue Horsehair Sporran

Ok, so about 7 years ago, I made a Horsey Sporran to go with my American Bicentennial Kilt. There wasn't a pictorial how to article at the time.. so I didn't get it exactly right. And I really didn't want to buy one, so I could reverse engineer it. (well not take it apart, but to kind of get an idea as to how it works)

So when I got the horsehair, I got a bunch.. enough likely for 4 or 5 Commercial sporrans.. The Died stuff is EXPENSIVE..

A Wheel Foot comes in handy. IT kind of helped spread the hairs evenly too.

I then Gorrila glued the panels. *next time i might do Epoxy*

So after reading a tutorial, I tried doing it this way.

I then tried it this way, with a bunch of holes, pulling each wee lock af hair through witha rug / crochet hook..

I then decided, to do it this way, with a gazillion holes instead of just a bunch.

AND next time I might do smaller holes, and a slimmer rug hook.

Side view.. I am layering so it shows red, white and blue from both the side, and front

A peek at the hairy tangled mess in the back... I am also hiding some reds in there, so they do not get played again..

And while I was doing the brass tubing thingies, I did a few "mustache" bits, with the tubing in the middle.

The Tubing once gorilla glued, is a nice wee capsule. In theory, Urethane does not bond with brass.. so one could remove the tubes. Well, anyway, its a Texas Big Hair Trick, that *I think* might help it fill out and look bigger (wider) in spots.

And now for a panel that hides the hairy mess, and for a pouch, back and bolt the cantle on.
