Barra MacNeils~ Christmas Tour 2014
This afternoon my sister and I went to enjoy The Barra Macneils, a family of incredible musicians from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Today they wrapped up their 2014 Christmas Tour. I have see them perform before, but was actually my first time attending their Christmas Concert. It was my sister's first time seeing them, ever. It was amazing, and we both agreed this will become a tradition. Not much beats some good Cape Breton fiddle playin'. Did anyone else happen to catch them this year? or at anytime for that matter ?
Here's an example of what we enjoyed today, and they did play this very set:

We've seen them 3 times, always a treat. Never been to the Christmas show, though.

Glad you and your sister enjoyed their performance. Unfortunately, I have yet to see them, but I hope to one day in the future. Thank you for sharing!

When they came to Owen Sound, I handled all the tickets etc, and had the great pleasure of meeting two of them during the afternoon while everyone was setting up. They are delightful people as well as awesome musicians!
If you you like traditional fiddle music, you will love them.

Imho, (I've been waiting for an opportunity to use that!), Cape Breton is the source of some of the most moving music in the world. I am planning to go there in the Autumn to take in some. Of course I will bring my pipes. Thanks for the post.

I feel that opinion is very well founded. The amount of talent( generations deep, in some families) is astounding, for such a small little piece of the universe. I hope to spend a little more time there in the future, hopefully going up for the annual Celtic Colours festival , which I have never managed to do yet. Hope you enjoy your visit

Good music by talented musicians. It's a shame none are wearing the MacNeil of Barra tartan. (See my avatar for an example of that tartan.) Otherwise, a fine representative of the Clan and the Island of Barra, even if they aren't actually from Barra.
