A new look for the kilt.
I was following a link that Ham gave to the www.Kiltstore.net and I saw these designs http://www.kilt2.com/tartan2/hotpres...=1&id=xB2jTYH4 and I was impressed by this new approach to tartan. I liked the one with kilt 2 stencelled onto it. The only problem I see is that it might "date".

My kilts say something about the wearer, not the kilt company.
I think the free kilt pin by 21st Century Kilts is genius. Not a blatant ad but a subtle tell tale sign of the maker. And it serves a purpose! That Howie is a smart fella!
The Nike swoosh, the Adidas 3 stripes, Hilfiger, MacDonalds, the list is endless.
I won't advertise for a company unless I like the company. Most of us are so used to the idea that we don't think about the fact that we are approving a company's image and practises when we advertise for them.
Rant, rant, rant.
I won't pay money to advertise for someone. They should pay me!

Bear, what did you think of the other kilts that where without the logo over print. I wish I was younger so I could try out some of them, at 48 its hard to be hip without looking a prat

I was never the kind of guy to wear high fashion clothes, so they wouldn't be for me.

High fashion clothes were never meant to be worn by real people. To my eye they generally look kinda silly.

Bers is right. Why advertise for any company, especially one you don't really like! I had an uncle that wouldn't buy a car from a company unless they took the company names and logos off the car. That included repairing any holes left after the removal. He had a lawyer draw up an agreement. They either removed the material mentioned or paid him $40 per month he owned the car. He never collected any advertising fees, they always removed the stuff!
I've survived DAMN near everything

On the other side of the coin, sometimes it's just plain cool! Example: Have you seen any of the logo tee-shirts from Bear, Hank, or any of the other fine kiltmakers posting here?

I agree in principle.
I often say this to young guys who come to me wanting to pay ME to place FORD, or some other car brand across the windscreen or along the side of their motors. I tell them they are being conned, but I take the work anyway
I do place a sticker on all signs I make for advertising reasons, but thay can be removed.
There is a place, I guess, for being proud to be associated with a place, brand or make.
USAK place a badge on their casuals, it's a very nice badge but I usually remove it and sew it on a bag or jacket.
So Bear, how much will you pay me to wear your "Go Bear" T shirt?
Gray,
You'd have to Go Bear first! Can't have false advertising!

Well Bear, I wasn't going to tell you this, but the other day, walking along our deserted beach just on sunset, with a chilly wind blowing, I had a strong urge to experience a 'greater freedom'
I confess it was great, tho' my well established objections stand, yet it was nice.
I won't say "Bear was right" again, you might get a big head!
