Central Wisconsin Kilter
Good evening! Long time lurker, first time poster… I’m readying myself to jump into the rabble in the very near future and want to take the time to introduce myself.
My name is BJ and I'm a dad, husband, geek, hunter, camper, and canoer. My family and I live in Central Wisconsin where we live on our own little funny farm complete with horses, ponies, pigs, chickens, cats, a dog, and varied wildlife. Life is busy and I’m enjoying every minute of it.
My kilting curiosity doesn’t come directly from my heritage, but more from the look and comfort side of things. I like to challenge perceptions and open people’s minds. Kilting in Central Wisconsin isn’t something you see every day and I’m not sure why. It just seems so danged comfortable. Along with this, my father’s side claims Irish heritage and so I feel a little more comfortable claiming that I’m exploring my roots and enriching my boy’s cultural awareness. All in all, I’m looking to have a little fun.
As a family man, and as most people who are young and entering the fray, I do have budget constraints; especially not knowing what exactly I’m looking for. I have a general idea, but one of the main hang-ups at this point is the acrylic versus poly (PV). I haven’t been able to find a good comparison between the two. Though I think I’ll end up donning wool eventually, I’d like to start with one of these two just to get a feel for things. So what say you? Do you have a good comparison or experience with these fabrics? What do you like/dislike about each? I’d be interested in hearing! Thanks all!
