Boy Scout Utility Kilt
Hi Everyone,
I made this utility type kilt and finished today so my DS can formally request, to his peers in the troop's PLC, (of which he is Historian - fitting position for him) an addition to their Class A field uniform allowance for the kilt. The scoutmaster loves the idea and I hope that is a bit of an influence on the PLC since his son is SPL.
Details: about 3 yards of nyco ripstop, 11 5" knife pleats, he has a 32" hip and 28" waist, so it is tiny. It has a 6" fell, and a 4" hem so he can hit his growth spurt next spring and I can lengthen it. the aprons are 12" wide. It has Velcro closures, two key loops and 4 beltloops. Exterior back pockets with snap flaps, exterior front 'sporran' pocket with snap flaps. It is detachable with 3 snaps as well. I think it looks better with the black leather sporran, but he likes the nyco matching attachable pocket. BSA official knee socks, and classic 'vintage' color grosgrain flashes.
If he gets approval, the formal court of honor will be the first time he wears it out. He may be earning Life that night, so it'll be extra special.
Please wish him luck for tomorrow's PLC meeting.
Thanks for checkin' it out.
