Cap badges
It has been said before that a clan badge is not required with the kilt. I must agree with that, but what do you use as a cap badge? Clan, military, club, etc. Mine is a replica of my fathers 1970's 10th Special Forces Group Trojan horse beret badge. Yes I also served some time with 10th group and This is a better conversation starter then most badges I seen. So lets talk cap badges/pins for a moment.

I have a fine X-marks cap badge, I'm quite proud of it actually, my wife bought it for me! I also have a badge bearing the standard of the Saint the private school I went to as a child was named after... This happens to be Saint Hubert, it is also the same standard used by jagermeister, so it remains in my wife's jewelry box for the time being, it gets tiresome explaining that no it's not a jagermeister pin, it's a religious symbol.....
Although I do like a dram of jäger after a big meal.....

I have a bronze XMarks badge ('cause I'm a Moderator and Steve pays us for years of faithful service with one of these lovely things). I frequently wear this in North America, with a dandelion tucked in behind. But the one I wear most often is a belted cat, my clan.

I gave my clan badge to my wife's new son-in-law (a fine lad named Calhoun) for a wedding present. Now, I wear a broach shaped like a targe. It is sterling with a turquoise set in the middle. I change it out on my glengarry and use it as a kilt pin. This just feels right.
