    Vintage Regulation Doublet

I've had a PC for a while but it's always been on the small side and I wanted to replace it. However, I was hoping to find a regulation doublet for a bit different look than the PC. I hadn't had luck over the past couple years of keeping an eye out but recently I saw a vintage one appear on eBay with almost perfect measurements. No maker label but based on what the pictures showed, it looked to be well made and I figured I'd take a chance. It arrived this week and I'm very impressed; well made and some nice details.

Although the listing just said wool, so I was expecting barathea, it is actually doeskin which would have been my choice of buying a new one. I also found a monogrammed handkerchief in one of the pockets as an added bonus.

Now just to wait for events to start happening again so I can wear it!

The Regulation Dublet is my preferred style for evening wear.

Have you checked the inside of the inner jacket pockets? Makers sometimes put their label there.

I did and there's nothing; would be nice to know more but that seems unlikely at this point.

I'd only ever seen them in red - I like this better than a PC. Well done, sir!

    A red Regulation Doublet

I have a similar on to the OP. This one was made by Meyer & Mortimer in 1942.

USA Kilts advertises them in Red, apparently it's become quite popular. I notice now thought that they do sell in black as well.

That vintage piece is very nice. You can't beat quality.

Well done, and it looks smashing on you. I particularly like the flourish between the two tashes on the back. A couple of years ago I bid on an argyll that turned out to be doeskin - a welcome bonus.
