    Cap/hat maker

Having a larger than average noggin, I am seeking a hatter who constructs flat caps. I have some 10oz tartan that has been sitting in a closet far too long. Need someone with the skills to use it for a 63/64cm flat cap. Hatter would need to source the rest of the materials for lining and such.

    TIA

Thank you for pointing that out. I should have been more specific. I enjoy the idea of having one made with my family tartan.

I've had three custom tweed hats made by CherryPatHats on Etsy.

She's super to work with. I had a quite specific style in mind, one she had never made, and without hesitation she created the pattern and made the hats.

In my case I sent her a couple vintage heavy Harris Tweed sportcoats which she "upcycled" into the hats. Old Harris Tweed jackets in tiny sizes, and sometimes with a bit of mothing here or there, can go quite cheaply on Ebay and are the least-expensive source of top quality tweed I've found. A nice touch was removing the jacket's Orb label and sewing it into the lining of the hat, just as it would have been done if the hat had originally been made from that length of tweed decades ago.

She gave me a substantial discount on the hats due to me providing the fabric.

I'm sure if you provided the tartan she could make whatever style of hat you would like.
