    Kilt hose for thick calves

I have very muscular calves and find that most typical kilt hose do not go up high enough on me. If they do, they tend to try and cut off the lower part of my leg after a day of wear. I do have two pair that I purchased at a game two years ago and do not remember from whom I purchased them.

My problem lies with buying online. I can't feel them and see if they would fit properly. My question is, does anyone know of any retailers or X-Marks sellers who make them for larger calves? Or is there special wording in the description that I am looking for like..."fits fat calves"?

Thanks once again to the great rabble.

The Scottish Tartans Museum Gift Shop sells House of Cheviot's "Harris" line of kilt hose which is described as being "fully fashioned" for larger calves up to 26" diameter.

*edit: ha, I just realised that's the same line of hose the others have recommended, but at least now you have several sources to shop around with.

Can you measure the circumference of your calf? I have 17" calves and find that normal kilt hose tend to be a little snug, but they fit OK. The Lewis hose fit me great. There are also a few companies that sell hand knit hose which can be made to fit wide calves (over 20").

If I go that route, what measurements do you need and what prices would you charge? Send me a message if you wish. Thanks!

the o'marled socks are the bomb, and they're inexpensive. They're cotton, not wool.
Last time I communicated with them, they were running low, so move on it!
