Congratulations Ron. I know you will do a great job. It's great you were choosen because of your qualifications. The kilt was a non-issue, and rightfully so.

    Good question Mr. Bill,

When I was elected to the local hospital board a few years back we just spent money and set the hospital district tax rate once a year. Was kinda fun.

This agency is a not for profit deal. The board hires a CEO to run the many operations of the agency, a shelter for victims, treatment groups for both victims and perpetrators of DV, a thrift store to raise funds and provide community service opportunities for folks on probation, they field advocates to folks in crisis, usually to the E.R. after a beating or rape.

The board is currently working on acquiring a defunct charter school complex to house all operations on one campus rather than the current multiple storefronts the agency operates out of.

My own agency is a similar not for profit set up. Our board keeps hands off operations. From what little I know so far this domestic violence agency board seems a lot more involved in operations.

The board only meets once a month for a few hours, so things seem to have been running well so far.

Sadly, my little town is over run with booze, drugs, and domestic violence.

I'm sorry to hear about your town, but on the other hand, glad that there are resources to help people out when they need it. Good on ya for getting involved.

I'm in the "job interview" stage and so far I have gone to an interview kilted. I always bring it up near the end "Oh, and I'll be wearing a kilt to work a coule of days a week". So far, nobody has batted an eye, and I've gotten a fair number of callbacks for second interviews. I just haven't quite hit that Home Run yet.
