Ok. This one is not entirely a DON'T or DO.

He looks REALLY close to pulling it off, but something about this picture just looks off and I truly can't place what it is. I believe part of it is the shoes, and the other part maybe is the frayed bottom of the kilt. All in all though, it looks to me like this individual is trying hard, and ALMOST has it. What are your thoughts on this one?

Please alert the costume police! YUKKK! I think this is pretty much Highland RennFaire-itis at just about its worst.

I agree that it looks like a RennFaire attempt which I personally don't like, but I'm trying to not let my personal views on the RennFaire interfere with this critique.

I would never dress like this, BUT again like I said before, It does look like he's spent some time and effort to try and look good. Even if he failed.

He does have a decent sporran, sporran hanger, a renn faire shirt, he attempted the leg wraps (even if they don't look good and are uneven).

I think I will concede my vote as a DON'T, but with an addition of maybe with a little more time and effort he may have the look he's going for.

To me it looks like the shirt should go with a toga instead of a kilt.
The bright, wrinkled cotton of the kilt and the odd lacing of the leggings edge it that much closer to "costume."
    But you're right, Ayin - he's trying.

Definitely looks like a bad Renn-fest outfit. The over-the-shoulder thing is pretty bad, the leggings are pretty bad, and the shirt is the worst, I think.

I'll give him credit for wanting to look kilted. At least he has high aspirations!

I think it's a 'Don't'. The sporran would look good on a modern outfit. The faux-cadadh look awful, as do the work-shoes. The 'tartan' doesn't even match warp-weft. While I realise that many Welsh tartans fall into this category, I'm pretty sure this isn't a Welsh tartan.
